Fujikawa, 17, wins first pro tournament (AP)

In an April 21 story about golfer Tadd Fujikawa's first win as a professional, The Associated Press misstated the age of the Mid-Pacific Open. Fujikawa was the youngest winner in the tournament's 50 years, not 15 years.

Boo goes back-to-back at Harbour Town (AP)

Boo Weekley holds his trophy after winning the 2008 Verizon Heritage golf tournament Sunday, April 20, 2008, at Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, S.C. Weekley made bogey on the hole to finish 15-under par 269.

Boo Weekley's first Verizon Heritage victory was a surprising relief. His latest? A joyful celebration that was a year overdue. Weekley successfully defended his title Sunday at Harbour Town, closing with an even-par 71 for a three-stroke victory over Anthony Kim (71) and Aaron Baddeley (71). Last year, Weekley needed chips-ins on the 71st and 72nd holes to beat Ernie Els by a stroke on a Monday...

Ireland's Damien McGrane won his first European tour title Sunday, capturing the China Open by nine strokes in heavy rain after closing with a 1-over-par 73. No player broke par in the final round. McGrane entered the last round with a three-stroke lead and finished at 10-under 278. Simon Griffiths (74) and Oliver Wilson (79) of England and Michael Lorenzo-Sera (79) of France shared second at the...

CBS, PGA Tour stream live TV coverage (AP)

Pope Benedict XVI's visit to New York City has prompted a first for CBS and the PGA Tour, streaming live TV coverage of a tournament to their Web sites. The decision to put the Verizon Heritage broadcast online was made because the network's New York City affiliate, WCBS, will preempt the golf to follow the Pope.

Rose withdraws from Verizon Heritage (AP)

Justin Rose withdrew from the Verizon Heritage with a bad back. Rose opened with a 5-over 76 on Thursday at Harbour Town Golf Links and was 10 shots off the first-round lead shared by Davis Love III, Justin Leonard and Lucas Glover. The seventh-ranked Rose was one of three golfers in the top 10 competing one week after the Masters.

Woods injury catches players by surprise (AP)

Often, the talk around Harbour Town Golf Links centers on Tiger Woods' latest victory, record or streak. On Wednesday, it focused on his left knee. On Tuesday, Woods announced on his Web site he had had arthroscopic surgery on the knee and would need at least four weeks to recover. "I was shocked. I couldn't believe it when I heard driving in," Brandt Snedeker said Wednesday, a day before the start...

The Australian Open, seeking a major sponsor, will be played from Dec. 11-14 at Royal Sydney Golf Club. Master champion Immelman on wild ride (AP)

For someone who's on top of the world, Trevor Immelman has spent a lot of time looking up the last few days. One day after becoming the Masters champion, Immelman was courtside at Madison Square Garden for the Boston Celtics' 99-93 victory over the New York Knicks. He was invited to the Celtics' locker room at halftime by coach Doc Rivers, who wanted his team to shake hands with a champion.

Golf makes another Olympic push (AP)

PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem offered his support Tuesday for golf to become an Olympic sport, an endorsement that could give golf its strongest chance since it was dropped from the Olympic program more than 100 years ago. "While there remain questions to be answered and issues to be resolved, I believe the time is now right to move forward," Finchem said on a blog he posted on the tour's Web...
